The group’s newest production: North Hollywood Shootout.
Blues Traveler, the New Jersey jazz/funk/blues band, has a new studio album: North Hollywood Shootout. The group, that already has 20 years on the road, has traveled far from its beginnings, spreading their music to each corner of the country. They have played over 2,000 gigs for a total of almost three million people.
According to CBS, with less emphasis on production and experimenting more with their God-given talents and genuine love of music, Blues Traveler is going back to their roots as a jam band with more of a "live spontaneity," for which they were first known. "We’re still trying to reconcile the different things we do, and cultivate what we're individually good at into something that’s bigger than the sum of its parts," said front man John Popper.
The group that became commercially successful with singles such as "Run Around," "Hook," and "But Anyway," has been able to survive the swirl of mainstream catapultic fame and avoid the temptation of falling prey to its claws. They have kept themselves solidly faithful to their fan base by keeping in touch with their musical core.
After the sudden death of bassist Bobby Sheehan and Popper’s obesity problems, the group has continued through the hurdles to keep the momentum going and the dream alive.
