Julianne Hough Diagnosed with Endometriosis

Julianne Hough preps for surgery.

Two time Dancing with the Stars champion Julianne Hough will undergo an operation to remove her appendix. Hough was diagnosed with endometriosis after experiencing stomach pains last week.

"After consulting with her doctor, this was the course of treatment that was recommended," wrote Hough on her Web site.

Hough, 20, is also a blooming country music artist, and will make a statement with more details about her treatment on Monday night's Dancing with the Stars, where she will perform with partner Cody Linley.

Endometriosis is relatively common, found in 5 to 10 percent of women. It is the development of uterine-lining tissue outside the uterus on the surfaces of organs, such as the appendix, in the pelvis or abdomen.

Hough was taken via ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after the Oct. 21 results show. The next day she claimed she was fine, with slight stomach discomfort.
