Denver Broncos vs. Cleveland Browns Preview

After a seemingly picture-perfect season, the Denver Broncos cannot seem to gain a shred of momentum heading into the second half of the NFL season.

After a seemingly picture-perfect season, the Denver Broncos cannot seem to gain a shred of momentum heading into the second half of the NFL season. Broncos wide receivers Eddie Royal and the emerging Brandon Marshall have played well, as they have caught 46 passes and 51 passes, respectively. According to SportingNews.com, Denver quarterback Jay Cutler was quoted as saying, "I have a stronger arm than John, hands down. I'll bet on it against anybody's in the league. Brett Favre's got a cannon. But on game days, there's nobody in the league who's going to throw it harder than I am at all." Many critics and even avid Bronco fans were puzzled by those remarks. Ever since those comments, Jay Cutler has appeared like a completely different player. As a matter of fact, Cutler has looked absolutely nothing like the Hall of Fame and Super Bowl champion quarterback, John Elway. Cutler currently has ten interceptions for the season and six interceptions in his last three games.

Conversely, the Cleveland Browns have been having problems of their own. Last year's pro bowl quarterback, Derek Anderson, has been benched, and Ohio native Brady Quinn will be the starting quarterback for the Browns. Braylon Edwards dropped a potential game winning pass last week against the Baltimore Ravens, and that has been a knotty trend for him. After such a convincing win against the reigning Super Bowl champion New York Giants, the Browns have been struggling to play consistent football. With an inexperienced quarterback for Cleveland playing against a stagnant Denver defense, something has to give.
