No Senator John McCain in 2012
In his first post election interview, Senator John McCain admitted that he has no interest in running in 2012 for the presidency of the United States of America. According to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Leno asked Senator McCain if he was interested in running for the presidency again in four years. Senator McCain replied by stating, "I wouldn't think so, my friend. It's been a great experience, and you know we're going to have another generation of leaders come along, and I'll hope that I can continue to contribute. That's all."
Leno also questioned Senator McCain on his vice presidential running mate in Sarah Palin by inquiring, "Do you think it (Governor Palin) hurt you at all?" Senator McCain remained adamant in his response with a fairly predictable answer. He replied to Leno's question by talking about how "proud" he was to have her by his side. Although it is arduous to determine if Senator McCain was telling the truth, he did seem gracious in admitting defeat to President-Elect Barack Obama. In honor of Veteran's Day, the interview with Jay Leno concluded with a poignant anecdote from Senator McCain about Mike Christian and the American flag.
