Mitch Mitchell, a contemporary of Jimi Hendrix, died on Wednesday.

Another piece of history now belongs to the ages. Legendary drummer Mitch Mitchell, a rock musician and contemporary of Jimi Hendrix, died in Oregon on Wednesday. Like some other well-known rockers of the 1960s, Mitchell was English. He passed away at age 62.

Mitchell was found in a Portland hotel room, and his death is currently being ruled as one caused by natural causes. Mitchell had been bringing Hendrix's music to the masses, stopping in Oregon, one of almost 20 cities in which he was set to perform. Hendrix played with Mitchell in numerous collaborations for which Hendrix was to later become best known.
