Stylista Episode 4 Recap
Last Week: Anne Slowey's niece was as mean and picky as her aunt. The trend page caused a lot of drama. Cologne went home for being a pushover.
DyShaun is a little shocked that Kate is still around. Ashlie cries about the whole situation. She tries to be comforted by William and Danielle. William calls Kate out for not having a lot of experience. They all decide to talk about their resumes. Megan calls him out on his resume and he shows it to her. She doesn't say anything after that.
At eight in the morning, the contestants have to go to Kendall's by 8:30. The assistant task is to pick a day-to-night dressing challenge for Anne. They have a $1,000 budget. Danielle talks about her retail experience being a positive. Dyshaun grabs bangles. Johanna wanted sophistication. Megan talks about her designer store technique. Devin is $2,000 over budget and has to cut back. They set their clothes on a tray and Anne looks at all of them. She butchers almost all of the contestants except for Devin and a few others. Anne picks the winner as Devin. She warns that two people are going home.
Devin is worried about the other contestants. Megan doesn't know what anyone brings to the table. Megan thinks Devin should be eliminated by her age. Devin is 19, but thinks that Megan is absurd for her accusations.
Bree says the challenge is to have a two page editorial fashion spread. They have to style an environment for a photo shoot. There are two teams of four. Devin picks Team One as Ashlie/Danielle/Kate/Megan. Team Two is Johanna/Dyshaun/William/Devin. Devin thanks her partners because she picked them so they can beat the other team easily. Team Two goes for minimalism. Kate disagrees with the minimalist idea. Danielle doesn't want Kate's opinions to throw someone under the bus. William complains that Devin loves everything too much. Ashlie wants to make sure that there is little to no drama. Kate wants to work and storms past the group.
In the house at the dinner table, Megan talks about Kate. Kate overhears this and starts to argue with the team. She flips on Danielle. Devin gets her nails painted during the whole conversation. Danielle flips on Kate because she said that working with retail is bad. Ashlie flips on her as well. That night, Kate talks to her mother about the fight; her mother tells her to go home. She cries about the whole situation and then hangs up on her mother while her mother is in mid sentence.
In the morning, the contestants get dressed and Kate decided not to go home. They are at their photo set. Elena is their model with a bright yellow printed dress. They have three hours to style the set. Team Two wants a minimalistic idea so they decide to go with mannequins without heads. It's an idea of fitting out of the crowd. The four of them struggle with dragging the whole box of mannequins.
Team One thinks about the outfit and goes for a retro. Kate likes an old TV. Megan is unsure about it. After seeing the TV, Ashlie convinces the team to go with a retro theme. They set up and Megan complains about possibly not having the TV. The team argues about the TV.
Team Two gets back and talks about the other team while setting up their set. They figure the mannequins should all be talking to each other. DyShaun overpowers William's opinion and puts all the mannequins in the back. Devin likes the shot a lot.
Team One preps Elena and they have a few shots in. Megan suggests an interesting shot of the model balancing on a martini glass and Kate disapproves. Megan yawns and sits back. The rest of the team compensates.
Team Two explains the party idea to Elena. They go with a "Gossip Girl" idea. The whole team is happy about the outcome.
At the Elle studio, team two realized that it may not have been the best of decisions with the white. Megan complains again about the TV over at Team One. William complains about the white being too white, but is overshadowed. Team One creates the title, "Retro Revival" mostly from Danielle. Megan dislikes the whole thing. She doesn't understand how she'd be in the bottom.
At the judging, Tory, the designer of the dress in the photo shoot, is our guest judge. Team One's page goes retro. Anne points out that the direction was from Kate. Megan dislikes the whole thing. Tory didn't think that was the main idea but it fits well. Megan thinks that the team worked together. Kate quickly dismisses it in front of the judges. She tries to defend herself, but Danielle disagrees. Although Anne thinks it's literal, she likes it. Joe calls Megan out for walking out.
Team Two discussed their idea. William and Devin get a little overpowered about the whole situation. Tory dislikes the headless mannequins. Anne calls the set a little elitist and soulless. Joe calls the thing sterile but likes the fact that they took a risk.
While the judges collaborate, Kate talks about how much she liked the designer. Megan and DyShaun complain about Kate. Megan warns that if she is going out, she's going out with a bang.
The judges talk about the two teams. Team One has the positive that it was a lifestyle, but wanted a little more items. Aside from Megan, the rest of the team was together. The judges think that there is an opposite of the team one. Joe thinks the photo is flat. They like the table, but it wasn't the best. They call out William's lack of input and Devin's coasting abilities.
They call both teams into the office. Team One is the winner, even with the literal translation. There was a good concept at Team One, but it wasn't executed. Johanna is saved for her use of mannequins. William gets bashed for his lack of input. DyShaun is blamed for the concept. Devin is dinged for picking a strong team. That means that Devin and William are going home. The rest of the contestants are a little upset, but William is positive about the whole thing.
Next Week: Danielle breaks down. Johanna struggles with a party.
