“My Own Worst Enemy,” “Lipstick Jungle” Cancelled
13-Nov-2008
Written by: Jill Marino

NBC pulls plug on struggling shows.

Not only is the economy having a tough time, but the TV world is as well, with ratings-starved shows falling through the cracks. Two victims have been announced.

Reuters reports that the Christian Slater freshman drama, My Own Worst Enemy, has been axed by NBC, despite having strong promotion during the Olympics this summer. There are still unaired episodes that NBC is unclear about airing yet.

Lipstick Jungle, the show many claimed was the next Sex and the City, is apparently not. It has also been cancelled. Although it received mixed reviews and average ratings, it suffered from the writers' strike earlier this year and never picked up its momentum.

NBC has a lot of trouble on its hands with some of its new shows, especially its remakes. Knight Rider is only holding onto 7.5 million viewers, while Kath & Kim is notching 6.2 million.

While it has received much critical praise and loads of Emmys, Tina Fey’s 30 Rock is only averaging 8.4 million viewers so far this season.
