42nd Country Music Awards Bring Some Surprises
Country music has become one of the most popular styles of music on the planet, and last night the Country Music Awards celebrated the finest stars in the genre, with a twist. Lil Wayne joined Kid Rock on stage for a performance, but didn't utter a word. While it was strange that he was there at all, what is stranger is that Wayne's crew released a statement that he would be the first rapper to ever perform at the CMAs (although Snoop Dogg performed at the CMT awards this year). The performance by Lil Wayne and Kid Rock mirrored their performance at the MTV Video Music Award, sans the rap verse.
The host of the show, Carrie Underwood, also won the Best Female Vocalist award. Entertainer of the Year award went to Kenny Chesney, the fourth time he grabbed the accolade. George Strait took home Single and Album of the Year, giving him the distinct honor of winning more CMAs than any other artist.
