Kiss "Lipstick" Goodbye
Lipstick is so last season; that, according to NBC executives, anyway. Last year's mid-season replacement comedy/drama/fashion extravaganza, Lipstick Jungle, will not be renewed for a new season. Low ratings are being blamed for the early demise of the show that wasn't quite great, but had potential to develop into 2008's grown-up version of Beverly Hills, 90210 . . . if all of the kids had grown up to be millionaire goody-goodies. Andrew McCarthy's sulking and mysterious billionaire, "Joe," will be sorely missed.
Also feeling the grind is Christian Slater. Slater's new action/dramedy show, My Own Worst Enemy, is also being axed from the schedule. Again, low ratings are the official cause, though perhaps executives were simply jealous of Slater's exciting life as a spy, and sad they couldn't have Andrew McCarthy's 'Joe' all to themselves. We may never know unofficially why the shows were axed, but I have my suspicions.
Andrew McCarthy -- now that you're out of a job, call me!
