Poll: "CSI" Fans Unhappy with William Petersen's Departure
CSI has been on television for eight seasons now, but only now has it become truly interesting.
The reason that the Las Vegas-based drama is now more interesting than ever is because the show's lead character - William Petersen - will leave the show in the middle of this season. He will be replaced as the head of the CSI by Laurence Fishburne.
But fans of the show are angry with the move, according to a recent AOL television poll. The poll said that over a third of the show's current viewers (37 percent to be exact) will no longer watch CSI after Gil Grissom leaves.
Given that CSI is the top-rated drama in the United States, this shouldn't mean it will be cancelled, but a big portion of the current viewing audience is waiting to see how good Fishburne is as head of the CSI.
Forty-one percent said they would wait and see what Fishburne's character had to offer before they made the decision to stay with the show in the transition.
