Prince Takes Michael Jackson to Court
17-Nov-2008

Jackson in court over breach of contract.

Michael Jackson has been taken to court for breach of contract by the Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Al Khalifa.

Jackson accepted up to $7 million from the prince as an advance in a deal that included making a new album for the prince's record label, 2 Sea Records (radaronline.com).

Jackson claims the money and presents were gifts, and at the time of signing the deal he was in a fragile state of mind following his 2006 child molestation case.

Bankim Thanki, the prince's lawyer, told the Associated Press the sheikh spent millions paying Jackson's legal fees, moving him to Bahrain and supporting Jackson, his family and entourage.

The expenses included $350,000 for a European vacation for Jackson and bringing his hairdresser to Bahrain.

The suit began on Monday at London's High Court and comes a week after Jackson lost his Neverland ranch due to lack of funds.
