Suge Knight Facing Criminal Charges

The former rapper is facing drug possession and battery charges in a Las Vegas court.
Marion "Suge" Knight is facing criminal charges stemming from an incident in August involving his girlfriend, where Las Vegas authorities allegedly found the hip-hop producer physically assaulting his girlfriend, according to the Associated Press.
A criminal complaint filed Tuesday charged Knight with two counts of felony drug possession and one count of misdemeanor battery against his girlfriend, whom police reports identify as Melissa Isaac.
The police report states that Las Vegas officers found Knight hitting Isaac while holding a knife near the Las Vegas Strip. Isaac was not stabbed but was hospitalized for treatment of her injuries. Knight was arrested for battery and also for having Ecstasy and hydrocodone on him. He was released on $19,000 bail.
Knight faces mandatory probation and up to four years in prison for each drug charge. The hip-hop mogul also potentially faces six months in jail for the misdemeanor count.
Knight’s attorney, Richard Schonfeld, said Knight would plead not guilty on his court date of Dec. 16.
"We're going to vigorously defend him against these charges," Schonfeld said.
Knight owned Death Row Records, which produced the albums of Tupac and Snoop Dogg. In 2006, the label was taken over by a bankruptcy trustee due to what a judge defined as "gross mismanagement."
