Actress Jennifer Garner feared that she and her family were being targeted by a mental patient.
Actress Jennifer Garner feared that she and her family were being targeted by an alleged former mental patient. Sources at TMZ and Access Hollywood claim to have obtained court papers filed in Superior Court, in which Garner reveals that the man, Steven Burky, has been stalking her since 2002. However, papers were not filed until now, when the actress felt that the alleged former mental patient's behavior was becoming creepier and more threatening.
Garner, one half of one of Hollywood's biggest power couples (with husband Ben Affleck), was given a temporary restraining order against Burky, who some believe has ties to satanic groups and may have threatened Garner's well-being.
Garner's complaint included a fear of Burky's "obsessive and harassing behavior," which she alleges has become "dangerous and threatening." Garner has stated that she was seeking a court-ordered restraint of Burky, as she feared that Burky posed a threat not only to her, but to her husband, toddler daughter, and as of yet unborn, second child with husband Ben Affleck.
