Taylor Swift Is Living Life at the Top of the Charts
Taylor Swift is rapidly becoming America's sweetheart. Her new album, Fearless, is No. 1 on the Billboard charts, she grabbed seven slots on Billboard's Top 100 for singles, and had the highest release week sales for any female artist in 2008. As if all that isn't enough, the album has sold more units than any country album since the Eagles' 2007 release.
Nielsen Soundscan released numbers showing that over 20 percent of the 592,000 album sales were digital downloads. Soundscan began monitoring album sales in 2004, and Fearless holds the fourth highest sales total since tracking began.
Fearless is the soon to be 19-year-old's sophomore release, and had the fourth highest release week of any album this year. The album led the pack in a week when album sales were up over 25 percent from last year.
