Hotel heiress Paris Hilton and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden called off their nine-month relationship.
After nine months of dating, hotel heiress Paris Hilton and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden have split up, according to People magazine.
Hilton’s publicist, Alanna McCarthy, would not elaborate on the breakup but confirmed that the two “remain very good friends.”
A source close to Hilton said the couple wanted different things in life and were not compatible.
"She is saddened by the breakup but they're just too different and they wanted different things in life," a source close to Hilton told People. "He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break."
Just last month, Madden told People how happy he was in their relationship.
"I wear my feelings on my sleeve. I'm very open about how in love I am – Paris and I are very happy," Madden said in October.
The confirmation of the breakup came days after Hilton was spotted at a Miami club with her ex-boyfriend, Greek billionaire Stavros Niarchos. The source told People, "In no way are they romantic, nor do they want to get back together."
Hilton’s on-again, off-again best friend and The Simple Life costar, Nicole Richie, is dating Madden’s twin brother, Joel. The couple has a daughter, Harlow.
