Another Possible Hiring for President-Elect Barack Obama
The current Arizona Governor, Janet Napolitano, is President-elect Barack Obama's plausible lead candidate to head the Department of Homeland Security. Mimi Hall, David Jackson and Fredreka Schouten from USA Today are reporting, "Two Democratic officials with direct knowledge of Obama's transition decisions said Thursday the border-state governor would get the job if there are no problems with background checks and vetting." Governor Janet Napolitano is a well seasoned person who was a state general at one point, and she has experience with immigration.
Assuming Governor Napolitano is offered the job and accepts the secretary of Homeland Security position, she will be responsible for naval security and the protection of President-elect Barack Obama. If President-elect Obama does appoint Governor Napolitano as his secretary of Homeland Security, then it would be another impressive selection along with his chief of staff hiring in Rahm Emanuel. Even Senator John McCain liked the idea of having Governor Napolitano as the secretary of Homeland Security.
