“Pushing Daisies” Cancelled
20-Nov-2008
Written by: Amy Chandler

ABC cancels the show after declining ratings.

ABC has cancelled Bryan Fuller's drama comedy series, Pushing Daisies, E! Online reported. Fuller announced in a statement to E! Online that the decision not to order more episodes came directly from Steve McPherson, ABC’s president of Entertainment. “He never said we’re canceled but that was the gist of it. He said they’re proud of the show and not ordering episodes at this time,” Fuller stated. He elaborated that although the series will probably end after episode 13, he is talking to DC Comics about creating a comic to tie up the loose ends and has already written a movie pitch.

Although Fuller refused to comment on why the show was cancelled, the most probable explanation is a drop in ratings. Last season, Pushing Daisies earned a 6.3/10 average. However, this season the show has averaged a 3.8/6 share in overnights through six episodes, with an all time series low on Wednesday night.

Fuller did not seem disheartened, however, as he added, “To be honest, I am so proud of the show. We put together 22 really good episodes. I’m sure I’ll be working with a lot of these people again, and I would love to do so.”
