Report: “SNL” Looking to Upgrade Armisen’s Obama
21-Nov-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

They’re looking for a new actor.

According to a report on the Daily Beast, Saturday Night Live is looking to replace Fred Armisen's impression of President-elect Barack Obama with someone better.

The reason, according to the Web site, is because Armisen neither looks nor sounds like Obama and the show runners were just trying to fill a necessary hole in the show when the Democratic primaries were running.

“[Armisen] speeds up at the end of a phrase to make everything he says seem declarative," The New Yorker wrote, "and the way he frowns as a sign that he’s listening intently—but not much more; his Obama has no backstory.”
