No word on whether he'll return to Law and Order, however.

Former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson has announced that he is going to return to television after he ran for the Republican nomination in the 2008 election.
Thompson, who is best known for his role on Law & Order, bowed out of the Republican race after he was crushed very early on in Iowa and New Hampshire.
"He seriously considered it [returning to politics full-time as the head of RNC], but he called and said that it was not in the cards," B.C. "Scooter" Clippard, Thompson's business manager, said. "He has some wonderful opportunities back in the television market that probably financially far outweigh being chair of the RNC."
Those opportunities have not yet been announced, but check back for more news about Thompson's return to acting.
