N.Y. Mom Sues Hospital After Losing Arms and Feet
22-Nov-2008
Written by: Jessica McCumber

The woman became an amputee after not being treated for infection.

To say that Tabitha Mullings had been through a nightmare prior to her Friday release from a Brooklyn Hospital would be an understatement.

According to both FoxNews and New York Daily News, the 32-year-old lost both feet and hands over an ordeal that started with something as every day as a kidney stone.

She went to the hospital two months ago seeking treatment and was released with a prescription for pain pills.

The result was that the mother of three ended up back in the hospital in a two-week long coma after the infection she was suffering from blocked blood from both hands and feet.

Reportedly, when Mullings woke up, she was a quadruple amputee who only had vision left in one eye.

Mullings is now suing for $100 million claiming that she was never given a blood test to see if there was an infection.

Sanford Ribenstein, Mullings’s lawyer, told the Daily News that his client is “a role model for those who suffer tragedy.”

As for Mullings, she is just thanking God that she’s going home.

"I want to thank God for giving me a chance to live through this," she said. "My goal is to walk out of this hospital with my hands and legs before Christmas so I can spend it with my family and friends. The first thing I will do is hug my kids as tight as possible."

The most important thing is that the Mullings children already have an early Christmas present: getting their mother back.
