No Doubt Ready to "Rock Steady" Again
No Doubt fans got a treat on Friday night when the band announced, during a chat on their official Web site, that they plan to tour next year. Lead singer Gwen Stefani said, "I don't think we should wait. Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies. So fun! Would be so inspiring to get out there and play all those songs again." Bassist Tony Kanal also shared in his excitement about the reunion, saying, "We need to play. It's been too long. I feel like it's time for some rock and roll." There is no further information on where the tour will start, but there are talks that it will kick off in summer 2009.
No Doubt is also currently working on their sixth album, the first since 2001's Rock Steady. The band had stopped touring and producing music together four years ago. During that time, Stefani released two hit solo albums and gave birth to her two sons, Kingston and Zuma, with her rocker husband, Gavin Rossdale. Guitarist Tom Dumont also had two sons, Ace and Rio, and played in the band, Invincible Overload. Kanal produced songs for Stefani's solo albums and worked with Pink, while drummer Adrian Young spent his time touring and making music with other bands.
