Hannity and Colmes Are No More
According to the Associated Press, Alan Colmes, of Hannity & Colmes, will leave the show after 12 years with his conservative colleague, Sean Hannity.
Colmes will remain a Fox commentator on various programs. Colmes will also continue his radio show. No decision has been made on who will replace Colmes, or whether he will be replaced at all.
The recent presidential and congressional election seemed to be a deciding factor in Colmes's decision to leave his post. "We have a Democratic House, Senate and president," Colmes said in an interview. "My work is done."
Hannity and Colmes is a popular cable television show. It is second only to Fox's The O'Reilly Factor in prime-time cable ratings.
The Hannity and Colmes show is known for its split screen usage when guests are debating issues. A copycat of this split screen image was utilized on The View during a disagreement between Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. According to ABC News, Rosie O'Donnell stated that this was one factor which led to her decision to leave the show earlier than anticipated.
