New York Becomes Busy During the Thanksgiving Day Parade
The city of New York became tremendously chaotic as the 82nd Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade kept the streets of Manhattan busy. According to the Associated Press, contributor in Colleen Long is reporting, "Thousands of marchers carried giant balloons past throngs of holiday revelers cheering them along the route." One of the new additions to the parade this year was Buzz Lightyear from Disney's well known animated movie, Toy Story. Other new characters to the parade were a blue Smurf and Horton the elephant from the Dr. Seuss children's books.
However, two veterans such as the pink Energizer Bunny from the energizer battery commercials and Kermit the Frog from Sesame Street reprised their usual roles. More than three million people were in the audience to attend the parade, and approximately fifty million people watched the parade live on television. The parade also featured performances by young artist Miley Cyrus and the Radio City Rockettes.
