Travolta Speaks Out on “Bolt”
28-Nov-2008
Written by: Mic Mell

Reuters speaks with Travolta about his first animated role.

Reuters grabbed a scoop: a brief question and answer session with John Travolta. He spoke out on his new film, Bolt, and the ups and downs of his career.

Of his first foray into animated films, Travolta called the experience "the reverse of normal movie protocol," saying that while live action films have provided him the freedom to give directors what they want, in animation, "you're really letting the director completely lead you."

On his 16 years in musical theater, where his career was launched, he mused that he eventually tired of the long haul production schedules, and doing the same show eight times per week.

Travolta stars in four films that are slated for release in 2009. While he has been busy, he told Reuters that he has become more selective of the quality of the films he chooses. "I was offered several big movies recently that I just couldn't do anything with, so I turned them down," he said proudly.

Travolta can currently be heard in movie theaters with Miley Cyrus in Disney's new animated feature, Bolt, about a reality TV dog lost in New York who thinks his powers are real.
