Radio icon Bill Drake passed away on Saturday, November 29 in the San Fernando Valley, the AP reports. Drake passed away from cancer. He was 71 years old. Drake's birth name was Philip Yarbrough, though for many years he was known by his radio persona. He may be best remembered as a radio personality who chose to put music in the spotlight, rather than the typical fluff. Drake died at a West Hills, San Fernando Valley hospital.
A former co-worker of Drake's wrote a moving goodbye to the man who had so many tales to tell about how to succeed in the music business. Drake was reportedly a man who liked his privacy. No word yet on where the service will be.
