Rosie O’Donnell’s Variety Show Gets Canned
1-Dec-2008
Written by: Jill Marino

Comedian blogs about show’s demise.

Rosie O’Donnell’s big dream of having her own variety show sort of came true. One episode actually aired. Then she woke up.

NBC aired the first episode of “Rosie Live” on Wednesday night and only about 5 million people watched it. This was disappointing news for the network, who was promoting the show as O’Donnell’s comeback to television after her disastrous turn on The View.

E! reports that O’Donnell took to her blog and wrote in her usual shorthand style that “there will be no more” episodes.

The premiere episode featured Alec Baldwin, Clay Aiken, Liza Minnelli, and Ne-Yo. Episodes of Knight Rider which normally aired in that 8 p.m. slot on Wednesdays, had done better than “Rosie Live.”

O’Donnell continued to blog on by saying: “no ratings/bad reviews/yet still a thrill 4 me.”
