Balfour Arrested in Hudson Murders

The estranged husband of singer and actress Jennifer Hudson’s sister, Julia, was arrested Monday and charged with the murders of Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew.
More than a month after the bodies of singer and actress Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew were found brutally murdered in their hometown of Chicago, William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister, Julia, was arrested on a murder warrant, according to the Associated Press.
Balfour has been in custody since the murders but was held for a parole violation. Police claimed the 27-year-old was only a “person of interest” until Monday. As of Monday night, Balfour was still awaiting formal charges to be pressed against him.
Balfour’s attorney said his client has maintained his innocence.
"He vehemently denies that he is guilty in this case," Balfour’s attorney, Joshua Kutnick said. "Any evidence pointing to Mr. Balfour is not even thin. It is very, very weak."
The slain bodies of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson, were found inside the family’s home in Chicago on Oct. 24. Balfour was taken into custody later that day. Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, was the subject of a kidnapping search but his remains were found three days later in a sport utility vehicle in Chicago. All three victims died from gunshot wounds.
