Clay Aiken Is Taking to Fatherhood
Three-and-a-half months after the birth of his son, former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken said he has settled into his role of father and is very hands-on when caring for his son, according to People magazine.
"It was probably a week before [the baby's mother] had to change a diaper at all!" Aiken said. "I'm trying my best to be the one who doesn't always let him get what he wants, but he owns us."
Aiken currently stars on Broadway as Sir Robin in Monty Python's Spamalot, which has a few weeks left in its run. The 30-year-old said he is looking forward to production wrapping up so he can spend more time with his son, Parker, and his close friend who gave birth to Parker, Jaymes Foster.
Shortly after Parker's birth, Aiken came out of the closet and announced his homosexuality. Aiken said he was "terrified" about returning to Broadway because he was "sure I'd get booed off the stage," though the actor later said the crowd's positive reaction led him to be more comfortable.
Aiken said that his life feels more "natural" after coming out.
