A Hot Start for the Los Angeles Lakers
2-Dec-2008
Written by: Sayed Islam

A hot start for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a 14-1 start to begin the 2008–2009 NBA season, and the Lakers have the best record in their division. But the Lakers are not just hoping for best record in the Pacific division. They are not looking for just the best record in the Western Conference. The Lakers want to have the best record in the NBA. After a demoralizing NBA finals disappointment last year to the Boston Celtics which ended in six games, Los Angeles has their focus on earning home court advantage all throughout the playoffs for this year.

However, not everything is fine and dandy for the Lakers. According to the New York Times, contributor in Jonathan Abrams is reporting that Lakers all star guard and forward “Kobe Bryant can terminate his contract next summer, opt out after the 2009-10 season, or let his current deal expire after the 2010-11 season.” Although he can opt out, it is unlikely that he will opt out because the Lakers might be his best chance to win another championship. Bryant has never explicitly mentioned if he wants to opt out, but he seems like he enjoys playing with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum.
