Patrick Swayze’s Battle with . . . Tabloids?

On Tuesday, actor Patrick Swayze lashed out against tabloids that said he was nearing his deathbed.
According to the man himself, cancer-afflicted Patrick Swayze insists that he is not about to die, as various celebrity gossip tabloids are reporting; “They're reporting that I'm on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family!” he said.
On Tuesday, the Dirty Dancing star attacked the various supermarket tabloid claims that his pancreatic cancer had spread to his liver and other organs. The National Enquirer described Swayze as “so weak that he could barely walk without feeling faint. Sometimes he feels out of breath and has to sit down.”
Swayze has called their coverage of his struggle with cancer “emotional cruelty” - especially, he said, “when hope is so precious.”
“It's upsetting that the shoddy and reckless reporting from these publications cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I'm fighting,” he said Tuesday.
Although it's clear that the tabloid reporting of his health isn't accurate by any measure, it is unclear exactly what his state of health is at current; Swayze was reticent concerning his health beyond stating that the tabloids were wrong.
