The actor will face off with Gary Sinise on the show.
Craig T. Nelson will shoot a three-episode arc on CSI: NY, the Hollywood Reporter says.
Nelson will appear as Robert Parker, a well-connected New York publishing magnet who clashes with Gary Sinise’s Detective Mac Taylor.
This is far from Nelson’s first brush with television. He did a guest spot on My Name Is Earl last year as Warden Jerry Hazelwood, which lasted four episodes. He also won an Emmy for his role in the ‘90s sport comedy, Coach, and starred in the more recent TV drama, The District.
As for film, Nelson will appear in The Proposal, a romantic comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. It hits theaters next summer.
CSI: NY, now in its fifth season, pulled in 12.3 million viewers last week, making it #13 on the Nielsen ratings, according to the Associated Press. Rapper Nelly made a guest appearance in the most recent episode. The crime drama airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m.
