Singer announces first tour in five years
Britney Spears is certainly back in the game. She has a new album, a new outlook on life, and will now be showing it all off on the road next year.
Livedaily reports that Spears will begin her first tour in five years in March. “The Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour” will kickoff in Spears’s home state of Louisiana with a performance in New Orleans on Match 3. It will then hit 27 cities in the US and Canada. The Pussycat Dolls will be the opening act.
Pre-sales are already underway, while tickets for the general public will be onsale this Saturday. A press release stated that Spears will be working on the tour with choreographer Wade Robson.
“Circus” is Spears’s sixth studio album and was released yesterday, her 27th birthday. “Womanizer”, the first single off the record, made the biggest jump ever for a single. It sat at No. 96 and hit No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Spears’s last album, “Blackout,” hit No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The single, “Piece of Me”, awarded her three MTV Video Music Awards.
Spears performed yesterday on “Good Morning America” and also sang with Madonna at her “Sticky and Sweet Tour” concert at Dodger Stadium last month.
