Liza Minnelli Returns to Broadway
4-Dec-2008
Written by: Amy Chandler

“Liza’s at the Palace...!” begins its run at the Palace Theatre.

Liza Minnelli is returning to Broadway in a new Christmas show, reported Newsweek. Her show, called “Liza’s at the Palace...!,” will be performed in Broadway’s historic Palace Theatre through December 28. The 2˝ hour show is divided into two parts. The first part is a return to the old songs that made her famous, such as “Cabaret,” “My Own Best Friend,” “Maybe This Time,” “And the World Goes ‘Round,” and “New York, New York.” The second half of the show is dedicated to Minnelli’s godmother, Kay Thompson, author of the “Eloise” children’s books.

During the show, Minnelli joked about her age, saying, “Do you remember when I used to sit down during the second act? Now I do it during the first act.” However, in an interview for Newsweek, Minnelli, who is 62 years old, claimed that her age and recent hip operation would not slow her down, saying: “I’m also an athlete. Don’t worry about me, honey. I’m doing just fine. Trust me.”
