A "New Moon," a New Director

There will be a new director in town for "New Moon," the much-anticipated sequel to the vampire series that starts with "Twilight."

With a New Moon will come a new director. Reports are coming in now that the director of the film sensation, Twilight, will not be returning to direct the sequel. Catherine Hardwicke, the director of Twilight, was initially seen as a surprise choice, as she had not yet helmed a big-budget film. The film may be her best grossing one to date, having already earned well over $100 million in less than one month of release.

According to reports, Hardwicke may have required more time to get ready for the movie than the studio, Summit, desired. No new director has been named as of yet, though reportedly the film company hopes to have the first sequel wrapped within the next year.

Fans of the Twilight books who saw the film version generally gave positive reviews, though some fans noted that the film version did take liberties with the original book.
