A Change for Jay Leno

Jay Leno looks like he will be moving to a 10 P.M. time slot. According to the "Business News" section of the Los Angeles Times, contributor in Meg James is reporting, "Only time will tell whether NBC's gambit is a stroke of programming genius or simply a way to avoid pushing the network's biggest star into early retirement. Leno has long been scheduled to turn over the 'Tonight Show' desk to Conan O'Brien in June. But NBC believes it is introducing the network television equivalent of a Prius or SmartCar into a prime-time lineup populated with Packards."

This new time change might mean the demise of poorly crafted dramas from NBC. The caveat to this is the fact that many jobs will be lost. Hollywood actors will not be able to get jobs, but this will be done in an effort for NBC to save money. Since the move of Leno to 10 P.M. is expected to generate more revenue for NBC, NBC would be spending below $2 million. Starting September, Leno will be seen on weeknights at 10 P.M.
