Stiller Fills Ruffalo Role in Wake of Tragedy
Mark Ruffalo has abandoned his latest project, Greenburg, in light of his brother, Scott's, murder. Ben Stiller will replace him in the drama, the latest from Margot at the Wedding director Noah Baumbach.
Scott Ruffalo, a hairdresser, suffered a shot to the head on Friday. He was taken off life support Monday. A friend of his, who was held for questioning but later released, claims a game of Russian roulette was the cause.
Greenburg is currently courting a number of specialty divisions of major studios, including Universal's Focus Features. Several actresses are in talks to star opposite Stiller. Amy Adams was previously attached to the project.
Stiller has also discussed directing The Trial of the Chicago 7, which focuses on the riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention and their aftermath. Steven Spielberg had previously considered helming the Dreamworks film.
