Fishburne Pulls in Strong "CSI" Ratings

CBS boasts big-time numbers, thanks to the debut of a new regular cast member.

Laurence Fishburne's debut as Professor Raymond Langston on CBS's CSI gave the show its best ratings since its season premiere, the Hollywood Reporter says.

CBS won every hour Thursday night, in part due to ABC's repeated airings of Ugly Betty, Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy.

CSI was watched by 20.6 million viewers, earning a 5.7 preliminary rating among adults ages 18-49. This was an 18 percent boost from last week. Its lead-in, Survivor, enjoyed 13.2 million viewers, marking a slight boost from last week. But the biggest ratings boost went to Eleventh Hour, a new series which holds the 10 p.m. slot. It pulled in 13.4 million viewers, enjoying its best numbers yet and winning its hour for the first time.

This CSI episode marked part one of a two-part episode which will involve the show's lead character, Gil Grissom's (William Petersen), departure. Fishburne will join the main cast to fill the void.
