What's that you say? Hugh Jackman will be hosting the 2009 Oscars? The 2009 Oscars may experience a huge ratings spike on February 22, when the dreamboat takes over hosting duties. Jackman was announced on Friday, December 12, as the 2009 face of the Oscar ceremony. This certainly puts a handsome face to the name.
Jackman can be seen in theaters in the sweeping epic, Australia, which has been earning rave reviews. Jackman is known for his wide variety of film and theatrical appearances, from Wolverine in the X-Men action films, to the romantic lead, Leopold, in Kate & Leopold, also costarring America's sweetheart, Meg Ryan.
Jackman was named as the Sexiest Man of 2008 by People magazine, which did not come as a shocker to many people familiar with the rugged Aussie. The Oscars telecast should be interesting, as Jackman is just as believable as an action hero as he is a Broadway singer and dancer. Cheers to Oscar night!
