Transformers 2 Filming on U.S. Military Base
According to USA Today, the Department of Defense has allowed the production of the movie, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, to film at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
The Army also permitted the filmmakers to film jets and fighter planes from nearby Holloman Air Force Base. Additional scenes were filmed on Navy aircraft carrier, the USS John C. Stennis. Actual Marines played the part of servicemen extras opening fire on the fictional transformers (more than likely the evil Decepticons) that will be seen in the Paramount tentpole summer blockbuster to be released in 2009.
Actors Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel were on hand for the filming. Both performers are reprising their roles from the first Transformers movie as Sgt. Epps and Capt. Lennox, respectively.
Footage was shot of an F-22 Raptor jet to double as the evil Decepticon transformer named Starscream.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is directed by Michael Bay and will be released by Paramount Pictures June 26, 2009. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox will both return to star in the sequel to the 2007 blockbuster smash.
