New "Melrose Place" Looking for Locklear
The new 90210 got Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty back. Can the revamped Melrose Place get their leading lady back too?
E! reports that the CW, the network that is putting together the new version of the nighttime soap, is actively pursuing Heather Locklear to reprise her role as seductive advertising exec Amanda Woodward.
After confirming that the network was seeking Locklear, the source also said to E!, "I don't think anyone else from the original has been approached yet."
The source also said that next month, casting announcements could begin, as auditions are already underway.
The show is expected to debut next fall. Mark Schwahn, a writer on One Tree Hill, is reportedly writing the script for the pilot. However, E! reports that more than one script is being developed.
Also, the new characters on this version of the show are more, the source said, "culturally diverse."
The original Melrose Place ran for seven years on FOX.
