Miley Cyrus Performs New Year's Show at School
Miley Cyrus gave a surprise New Year's Eve concert at Beckman High School in Irvine, California for senior Alison Kaprielian. Kaprielian is the founder and president of the school's Pink Ribbon Club, which raises breast cancer awareness and money to fund treatment.
Kaprielian's mother, Barbara, is currently battling breast cancer, seven years since she was first diagnosed. Kaprielian was inspired by her mother to start the school club, through which she has raised about $10,000.
Kaprielian, a big Cyrus fan, won the concert and a day with Cyrus as part of an MTV contest called "A Miley-Sized Surprise." Cyrus presented Kaprielian with makeovers for her and her mother during the day, and MTV flew Kaprielian's best friend in from Georgia to attend the massive surprise party in Kaprielian's honor. Pepsi also made a donation to the Pink Ribbon Club.
The 90-minute concert was broadcast live at 5 p.m., replayed later as part of MTV's New Year's Eve special.
