Unstoppable Batman Lands Another Nomination
6-Jan-2009
Written by: Edgar Acero
With all the outstanding comic book films out there, The Dark Knight still stands at the top. After breaking records at the box office and in DVD and Blue-Ray disc sales, the Christopher Nolan blockbuster has earned a nomination for Best Picture by the Producers Guild of America in the annual Producers Guild Awards.
The awards, which will be presented on Saturday, January 24, at the Hollywood Palladium, will see a face-off between some of the best movies in 2008 as The Dark Knight is competing with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, and Slumdog Millionaire.
The nomination of the latest Batman installment for the PGA adds to an already successful list that includes a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Supporting Actor” for the deceased Heath Ledger and his exceptional performance as the Joker, and a Grammy nomination for “Best Score Soundtrack Album.”
The nomination also creates anticipation for the list of nominees for this year’s Academy Awards, which will be announced on January 22 and will probably include the dark crusader in many categories.
