Famous Twitterers Get Hacked
6-Jan-2009

No matter how famous you are, hackers still aren’t nice.
Twitter is a social networking site used by hundreds of thousands of people daily. The concept of it is simple - through a process called "tweeting" you can broadcast your every move to everyone you know.
So it's no big surprise how many celebrities decided to jump on the Twitter bandwagon. Celebs like Stephen Fry, Britney Spears, Dave Matthews, Andy Murray, Shaq, Lance Armstrong, Rick Sanchez, MC Hammer, and president-elect Barack Obama all use Twitter.
Unfortunately for these big name pop culture icons, Twitter, like all Internet social networks, is prone to hackers.
According to TG Daily, this past weekend, Twitter reported a password stealing/phish scam on the Web. The hacker decided to take control of the blogs of over 30 Twitter users, including pop diva Britney Spears and CNN anchor Rick Sanchez.
While Britney's blog blabbed about her unmentionables and Sanchez tweeted about his "high on crack" excuse to miss work, the Twitter team was hard at work to find the source of the hacking.
TG Daily goes on to say that the Twitter support team believes the accounts were hacked into through some of the online tools they use. Twitter is taking this extreme security breach very seriously and has removed all of their support tools from the Internet. The site will go back to its normal operation as soon as they are sure that everything is safe and secure.
