Once again, sex appeal makes the winner.
Even though it has been quite obvious for 80 years that Mr. Oscar has always been nude, what has not been as apparent is the connection — coincidental or otherwise — between the Academy Award figurine and its winners.
According to the L.A. Times, since the mid 1960s there have been a number of Academy Award-winning actresses, as well as a few actors, who have won this award for films in which they appeared less than fully clothed.
A few of the more well-known performers and nude scenes include: Halle Berry in 2001’s Monster’s Ball, Charlize Theron in the 2003 Monster, Kevin Spacey in 1999’s American Beauty and Hilary Swank in the 1999 Boys Don’t Cry. For a fuller list, visit The L.A. Times.
The 81st Academy Awards is scheduled for Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. on ABC. It will be hosted by Hugh Jackman.
