The New and Improved Golden Globes
7-Jan-2009
Written by: Mic Mell

The awards show will air this Sunday night.

Awards season is upon us, and the Golden Globes are coming. The winners are selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a body of 81 members who declare what the cream of the crop is for the year. The awards don't have much to do with the Academy Awards, and often choose different winners. The biggest allure in the industry is the unpredictable nature of the awards.

The new Awards show includes a new statuette for the winners. The new statue is designed by New York's Society Awards, a process that has gone on for almost two years, and includes a nice case in which to store the award.

The 66th annual Golden Globes will broadcast in over 160 countries, and incorporate both film and television. You can see the awards show on January 11 on NBC at 8 PM Eastern Time.
