“A. Hart Coulter” Makes It to the Today Show
7-Jan-2009
Written by: Edgar Acero
Ann Coulter, the outspoken conservative columnist and best-selling author, was radiant on the Today show. She was invited back after a report came out that she had been banned for life by NBC for her criticism on mainstream media and her controversial views.
According to MSNBC, Coulter was invited to Today to speak about her new book, Guilty: Liberal “Victims” and Their Assault on America, a book where she argues that single motherhood is the reason for society’s problems and where she refers to Barack Obama as “B. Hussein” Obama. After the interview was cancelled, a headline on the Internet reported that the author had been banned by NBC forever.
Once invited back, host Matt Lauer explained to Coulter that she had been originally dropped to give way to a live report on the Gaza conflict. Coulter argued that the show could have given her a new time slot.
CBS anchor Harry Smith, who was not amused with her presence, told the writer that she was a crying victim herself, attacking her view that single mothers play unjustified victim roles. “Any societal problem is the result of single motherhood,” Coulter said during the show.
