Here Comes Another “Sex and the City”
7-Jan-2009
Written by: Elizabeth Carey

It’s confirmed! Expect a sequel to “Sex and the City: The Movie” to be released in 2010.

The prayers of the Sex and the City super-fans have been answered as HBO, director Michael Patrick King, and actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall confirmed that another film is in the works.

After months of speculation, it was confirmed Tuesday morning that there would indeed be a sequel to Sex and the City: The Movie, which grossed $153 million in box office sales.

According to MTV, production is set to begin this summer for a 2010 release date. Though no script has been written, King and Parker are playing around with potential ideas, hoping to find the right story line.

Parker, however, publicly averred that her protagonist character, Carrie Bradshaw, would not become a mother. “It would be manipulative for Carrie Bradshaw to become a mother because the character is headed in a different direction. Furthermore, don’t expect the film to discuss the lives of the girls prior to New York City. “We made the conscious choice to not think about a life prior to New York City,” said Parker.

Beloved costume designer Patricia Field has been tapped to continue her decade long work with the franchise. Though no word on fellow headliners Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis and their involvement, it is safe to assume they too will go along with another Sex and the City go-around.
