Rourke, Rockwell Possible Villains in "Iron Man 2"
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is keeping a very tight lid on the script to the sequel of Iron Man, which is written by Justin Theroux, who also wrote the screenplay for Tropic Thunder. Mickey Rourke and indie film star Sam Rockwell are in talks of playing villains in the sequel.
Rourke, 52, would play a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes Whiplash, a man with deadly technologically-enhanced coils.
Rockwell, 40, will play Justin Hammer, the multibillionaire businessman and a rival to Anthony Stark, aka Iron Man, a role which actor Robert Downey, Jr. will reprise.
Also, scheduled to return is actress Gwyneth Paltrow as Tony Stark's executive assistant, while Don Cheadle is replacing Terrence Howard as Iron Man's best friend.
Iron Man 2 is scheduled to be released in May 2010.
