Tony Shalhoub pulls the plug on “Monk“
12-Jan-2009
Written by: Elizabeth Carey

After six years on television, Tony Shalhoub is ready to leave "Monk" and move on to other projects.

Germophobes and obsessive-compulsives alike will be sad to discover that Tony Shalhoub wants to move on from his hit series, "Monk."

The comedic show about a neurotic detective with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder has been on the air since 2002 and has received much praise from audiences and critics alike.
ImNotObsessed.com reported today that Shalhoub has dropped the bomb and admitted that the eighth season of the series will be its last.

"It’s a great job, and I work with great people, and I really enjoy doing the character, but I think eight years is enough," Said Shalhoub. "I think we’ve kind of explored all the avenues we could possibly cover, and as much as I like the show and working on it, I really do want to think about moving onto whatever the next chapter might be." Production on the eighth season is set to commence this March.

Season seven premiered January 9th and can be seen every Friday at 9 pm E.S.T. on USA Network.
