Mickey Rourke in Talks for "Iron Man 2"
Mickey Rourke is reportedly in talks to play one of the villains in the upcoming Iron Man 2, according to Reuters.
The role would mark the next step in Rourke's career resurrection, following a long fall from grace in Hollywood. The first, his titular role in The Wrestler, has met critical acclaim and garnered the actor his first Golden Globe award for best actor.
Little is known of the film's script, and there were conflicting reports as to exactly which villainous alter ego he would take. Reuters reported his character would be "Whiplash," while E! News suggested he would play the popular Marvel Comics villain, "Crimson Dynamo."
Iron Man 2 is due for release in May 2010.
Next up for Rourke is a role in The Informers, alongside Billy Bob Thornton and Winona Ryder. He will also star in next year's The Expendables, written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, according to Paste.
